Broken Chairs and Buses

This has taken a while to do as I have not have a good time with my wheelchair . I was arriving at our local cottage hospital 3 weeks ago when a castor wheel fell off my chair and the chair. This rather suddenly stopped my progress and I had to ask someone to get me my spare chair. The spare is 20 years old! So that was nearly 2 weeks until the chair was fixed finally so I was dolling along with the very old one.

As it happened I was due to have laser treatment to an eye at a more distant hospital and I was very worried with the old chair. In Scotland disabled and old people can have card giving free bus travel anywhere in Scotland and for those still walking this is the bargain of the century. Wheelcahir users have to wait until new buses come out. Well, it was a 2 bus trip to the hospital and the same back and it worked fine. It is annoying though. In 2002 I went to Dublin where nearly all the buses are converted to take wheelchairs! Why can't the UK do this?

Well, back in my Quickie GPV, now repaired, I am thinking about replacing the old chair. There are various choices but it is my money to buy one; the wheelcahir service provides only one chair. I am looking at various models but at around £1,000 - £1,500 this is not a cheap option. Oh well, perhaps I can manage a picture later.
